Loupe — Terms of Service

Pixel-perfect UI inspection for Chrome

Effective date: 2026-10-01

These terms govern your use of the Loupe browser extension and the getloupe.org website. By installing or using Loupe you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.

Who you are contracting with

Loupe is operated by an individual trading as Loupe, based in the United Kingdom. Contact: contact@getloupe.org.

What Loupe is

Loupe is a Chrome extension for inspecting and measuring web user interfaces. It runs locally in your browser. It is a developer tool, not a hosted service: there is no Loupe server that stores your work, and the extension sends no inspection data, page content, or browsing history to us. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

Free and paid tiers

What you may and may not do

You may use Loupe for commercial and non-commercial work, on any number of your own machines, subject to the seat limit of a team licence where one applies.

You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute Loupe or a licence file; share a team licence beyond the people it was sold for; or attempt to circumvent the licensing. Nothing here restricts rights you have under applicable law, including any right to decompile for interoperability.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe, via ExtensionPay for individual purchases. We do not receive or store your card details. Prices are shown at the point of purchase and are in US dollars unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to you.

Cancellation and refunds

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you have a statutory right to cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days and receive a full refund. We do not ask you to waive that right. Email contact@getloupe.org and it will be honoured, with no reason required.

Beyond that, and for everyone, we offer a voluntary 30-day refund: if Loupe does not work for you for any reason, email within 30 days of purchase and a refund will be issued. This is more generous than the statutory period, so in practice it is the only policy most people need.

Team licences bought by a business are not consumer purchases, so the statutory consumer right does not apply to them. The 30-day policy above does, provided the licence file has not been distributed to your team.

The 7-day free trial exists so you can evaluate Pro before paying at all.

Team licence term and renewal

A team licence runs for one year from its issue date. It does not auto-renew and no payment is taken automatically; to continue, purchase again. The extension allows a short grace period after expiry so a lapsed renewal does not abruptly disable a team's tooling.

Third-party integrations

Some features connect to services you choose to enable using your own credentials — for example Figma (design comparison) and Anthropic (AI explanations). Your use of those services is governed by their terms, you are responsible for any charges they bill you, and your credentials stay on your device. We are not responsible for those services' availability or output.

Availability and changes

Loupe is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and depends on Chrome's extension platform. We may change, add, or remove features, and browser changes outside our control may affect how Loupe works. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

A one-time Pro purchase covers the Loupe extension as distributed on the Chrome Web Store, including updates to it. It does not entitle you to a different product if Loupe is ever discontinued or replaced.

No warranty

Loupe is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. Loupe reports measurements and analysis for your judgement; you remain responsible for decisions you make using it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption. Our total liability in connection with Loupe is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Termination

You may stop using Loupe at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate a licence if these terms are materially breached — for example by redistributing a licence file. A refund is not due where a licence is terminated for breach.

Changes to these terms

Any material change will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. Continuing to use Loupe after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.
